

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Marie Massetti, 92, of Dongan Hills, a former seamstress and retired SIUH food services worker whose family was the center of her life, died Tuesday in Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Egbertville.
The lifelong Staten Islander was born and raised Marie Balto in Dongan Hills. She later lived in Annadale for a time, but returned to Dongan Hills 18 years ago.
Mrs. Massetti graduated from McKee High School.
She was a seamstress for half her working life, then worked in food services at Staten Island University Hospital for the other half. She retired in the late 1980s.
Mrs. Massetti was a member of an Island senior center.
She most loved having her family around her. She also loved to cook, making delicious Italian dishes like chicken cutlets, Sunday sauce and roasted peppers. She enjoyed playing bingo and, for many years, visits to Atlantic City.
Mrs. Massetti was a parishioner of St. Ann's R.C. Church, Dongan Hills.
Her husband, Nazzereno, died 38 years ago.
Surviving are her son, James; her daughter, Lorraine Ciulla; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
