Longtime Eltingville resident Cora Wamba quietly passed away in her sleep on December 3, 2020 at the tender age of 91. Cora was born in Cuba and came to the United States when she was 16 years old and became a naturalized Citizen.
She met and married the love of her life Armando F. Wamba, in 1955 and they were inseparable until Armando's passing in 2018. Together they had two children, Armand Wamba (Karen) and Mia Mattei (Stephen), two loving grandchildren, Christopher Wamba (Nicole) and Meghan Mattei, and two great- grandchildren, Lukas and Giovanni Wamba. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Sister. She considered her long time neighbors Chrissie and Phil Cowan her extended family.
Cora always dressed impeccable and was an excellent seamstress. She loved to visit the Casino's and promptly take their money on the slot machines (just ask her, she'd tell you!). Her signature dish of Chicken, Yellow Rice and Beans was by far the best north of Havana and her Cuban Sofrito made any meal a delicacy. Our loss is Heavens gain.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to
