Marion Aldycki

Passed away on February 19, 2013

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Former Staten Islander Marion Aldycki, 81, a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and bowling, died Tuesday in Centra-State Medical Center, Freehold, N.J.

Born Marion Devine in Stapleton, she moved to South Beach after her marriage in 1952, then settled in Rosebank in the 1970s. She moved to New Jersey in 1995, first settling in Jackson before moving to Freehold in 2007. She spent the last six months living with her daughter and her husband in Howell.

A graduate of Curtis High School, she worked as a nurse's aide in the early 1950s at what is now Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton.

Mrs. Aldycki was an accomplished bowler who competed in a women's league as well as a mixed league on Staten Island. She won several trophies and appeared in the Advance several times for her victories. She also enjoyed cooking and making dishes of food for friends and family. Later, she enjoyed bingo games and trips to Atlantic City with the Freehold Senior Citizens Center. She was also a fan of the Mets, and loved to watch games with her son-in-law, Jack.

Mrs. Aldycki attended Immaculate Conception R.C Church, Stapleton.

Her husband of 55 years, Stanley, died in 2007.

She is survived by her son, Thomas; a daughter, Marion Connelly; two sisters, Ann Devine and Mary Martin, and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 9:45 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
