Centenarian and devoted great-grandmother was known as a 'kid at heart', 104
The family of Martha T. Kerrigan expresses with deepest sorrow that their beloved centenarian passed away at the age of 104 on Aug. 4, 2018, at Clove Lakes Rehab & Nursing Facility.
A viewing will be held at Virginia Funeral Chapel on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. On Tuesday, Aug. 7, a Mass will be held at St. Ann's Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.
Martha was born in Mother Well, Scotland, and immigrated to the United States when she was 16 years old to work in childcare. She would eventually work as a clerk for J.P. Morgan, working into her 80s.
Martha lived in the Dongan Hills neighborhood of Staten Island and was a parishioner of St. Ann's Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, walks, and was especially devoted to her family. She loved playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially her great-great-granddaughter, Giannalea. Her family knew her as a big kid at heart.
Martha was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, the late John J. Kerrigan, and her son, John B. Kerrigan. She is survived by her daughter, Martha E. Califano; grandchildren, Eileen Seybuck (John), Kathleen Anastasio (Saverio), Donna Crockett (Stephen), Kelly Stile (Joseph), and John Kerrigan (Lisa); great-grandchildren, Kristina, Ryan, GraceAnne, Nicholas, Shane, James, Jessica, Liana, Sean (Stacey), Joseph, Nicole, and Michael; her great-great-grandchildren, Giannalea, Anthony, and Kaiden, and her niece, Beatrice Carman.
