

Martin Kevin Fitzpatrick, aged 86, passed away April 2025. Born on April 6, 1939, in the Bronx, Marty dedicated his life to education, community service, and to his family & friends.
After graduating from New Dorp High School, Marty enlisted in the Army, serving his country before pursuing higher education, earning a master's degree from Richmond College.
Marty spent most of his career at Curtis High School where he taught history for 32 years and served in other capacities, most notably as College Advisor and for his work with the Close-Up Foundation, a non-partisan organization inspiring students to take an active role in democracy.
He also directed the Driver Education program at Staten Island Academy for 20 years. Martin was a Fulbright Scholar, and his passion for history enabled him to study & travel in Eastern Europe.
He was not only a dedicated educator but also active in his community. Marty was a parishioner and usher at Blessed Sacrament Church. He taught a fitness class at the YMCA well into his 80s. He was a member of the Irish Teachers Association and the Ancient Order of Hibernians and took great pride in his Irish heritage, enjoying trips to Ireland to spend time with family. He was a steward of Clove Lakes Park, volunteering with Friends of Clove Lakes and countless other organizations over the years.
Marty's hobbies included travel with his wife and friends, gardening, and frequent visits to the theater. He never missed a party, an opportunity to dance, and was always up for a new adventure. He cherished his grandsons, Emmett and Liam Smith and enjoyed sharing his beloved New York City and exposing them to the arts.
Martin is survived by his loving wife, Mary Patricia (Patty Hall), his daughter Christine Fitzpatrick (Jerry Smith), grandsons Emmett and Liam, sister Marge Seroskie (David), nieces, nephews & his many cousins who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Fitzpatrick, Mary, and Joe Muccino and brothers Joe Muccino & Patrick Fitzpatrick.
Martin Fitzpatrick's life was a testament to his passion for education, community, and family, leaving a lasting impact on his many students and all who knew him.
Visitation Friday April 25 at Harmon Funeral Home 571 Forest Ave Staten Island 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday April 26 10:00 am Blessed Sacrament RC Church. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery.
