Martin J Laffey

Martin Joseph Laffey, 75 Carpenter, born in Ireland Martin Joseph "Joe" Laffey passed away on June 20, 2016, in Staten Island, N.Y., with his family by his side. Joe, born in County Mayo, Ireland, came to Staten Island in 1960, and lived in Westerleigh. He was a carpenter with New York City Local 608 for many years. He married Mary (Commins) Laffey in 1970, and had two children, Brian Laffey (Tracy) and Colleen Duffy (Christopher). Joe enjoyed reading the newspaper, watching Yankees baseball and Gaelic football and boxing, and playing with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife and children, Joe is survived by his grandchildren, Madison, Owen, Aidan, and Sean; two brothers, Patrick and James; one niece and two nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Liam. Visitation will be at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., S.I., on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Mass is on Friday at 10:45 a.m. at St. Teresa's Church, 1634 Victory Blvd., S.I. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery
