

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Mary Masi, 86, of Great Kills a retired mental health worker and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Monday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born Mary D'Aco in Baltimore, she moved to Manhattan with her family when she was 6 years old. She moved to Brooklyn after high school and lived there until 1998, when she settled in Great Kills.
Mrs. Masi was a mental health worker for 25 years at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn. She retired in 1998.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, knitting and solving crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Masi was a devout parishioner of St. Clare's Church, Great Kills, where she taught CCD classes to special education students for five years. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas for 16 years.
Her grandson, Michael Rinello, died in 2013.
Surviving are her sons, Anthony and Pat; her daughters, Marianne D'Amico, Gail Masi and Caroline Masi; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills, with a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Clare's Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Queens.
