

Matthew was born in Eltingville and lived there for 5 years before his family moved to Dongan Hills. He grew up just a few houses away from his grandparents and two aunts and loved spending time with his cousins.
Matthew attended the Academy of St. Dorothy through the 8th grade where he was an honor student and a standout on the basketball team. He received numerous awards for academic achievement and sports.
Matthew was an avid reader and excelled in writing. At 9 years old he wrote a 22-chapter short story he titled "Time Travelers". It was one of his many prized accomplishments.
He continued onto Msgr. Farrell High School. Again, an honor student, he served on the school newspaper and was on the bowling and track teams. Matthew attended Stoneybrook University for two years but wanted to be closer to home and completed his Bachelor’s Degree at CSI.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing basketball, bowling, darts, going to concerts and playing his guitar, as well as spending time with family and friends. Matthew was a sports enthusiast and life-long NY Knicks fan and attended many games.
Matthew worked in the financial services industry and at the time of his death was employed as a loan specialist.
He is survived by his parents, Gail and Ralph, his sister, Kristen, and his new brother-in-law, Sal .
A visitation for Matthew will be held Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 14, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314.
