Friends will be received at the funSTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Michael (Maged) Moftah, 53, of Bulls Head, a businessman, died April 8 at home.
Born in Cairo, Egypt, he was brought to the United States at the age of 8 by his family to Brooklyn, where he attended Nazareth Regional High School and graduated from Madison High School. He moved to Eltingville with his family in 1978 and three years later, they settled in Bulls Head.
He graduated from the College of Staten Island in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in business and worked in his family’s real estate, franchise food, parking lot and other businesses before developing his own enterprises.
He was a member of the Archangel Michael and St. Mena Coptic Orthodox Church in Great Kills and later Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church in Bulls Head.
“His legacy will always be remembered for his kindness, beautiful smile, spirit, willingness and generosity to others,” said his brother-in-law, David Ryan.
He is survived by his parents, Ned and Ebtisam Moftah, and his sister, Eman Ryan.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. Burial was in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Morganville, N.J.
