

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mr. Tortorella moved to Graniteville in 1979, where he spent the last 33 years.
He worked as a jeweler before retiring in the 1970s.
A member of the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Tortorella served during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Marine Corps League and Korean Amvets Post 101. He also volunteered at the VA hospital in the past.
Mr. Tortorella was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, the former Mary Raia.
"You were a great dad, always there for us, will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts and thoughts. We love you and are so proud of you," said his daughter Olympia Lynn. "Your fresh sense of humor will always bring a smile to my face."
In addition to his daughter, Olympia, he is survived by a son, Michael V.; a brother, Salvatore Tortorella; a sister, Nettie Matarazzo, and four grandchildren.
The Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, is handling the arrangements, which include a 10 a.m. mass on Monday at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, followed by a burial at St. Peter's Cemetery, both in West Brighton.
