

Born and raised Monica McKeever in Park Slope, Brooklyn, she graduated from Bishop McDonald High School in her native borough.
Mrs. Pitti moved to Dongan Hills in 1964 and lived there until 2002, when she relocated to Four Seasons of Mapleton in Columbus, N.J. She settled in Monmouth Crossing Assisted Living in Freehold in 2010.
Primarily a homemaker, she also worked as a school crossing guard at St. Margaret Mary's School in Midland Beach, and as a cashier at the former St. Vincent's Hospital, West Brighton. She retired in the 1980s.
Mrs. Pitti was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians in Hamilton, N.J. She took pride in her Irish roots and loved Irish music. She also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society.
As a younger woman, she loved ballroom dancing with her husband, Joseph. She was a fervent advocate for disabled children, working to expand opportunities for their education, activities and medical care.
More recently, Mrs. Pitti became a globetrotter, visiting countries all over the world.
She was a parishioner of St. Ann's R.C. Church, Dongan Hils.
Joseph, her husband of 41 years, died in 1999. She also was preceded in death by her son, Joseph, in 1998, and her son, John, in 2000.
Surviving are her son, Gerard; her daughter, Monica LaRue; a brother, James McKeever; a sister, Mary Moscatt; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Ann's Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
