

Born Nellie Sakshaugh in Port Richmond, she graduated from McKee High School. She and Knut Bolt were married and moved to West Brighton in 1945. She then found work as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Co., later New York Telephone Co., where she was employed for about 30 years. She moved to Great Kills in 1957.
Mrs. Bolt was active in the Norwegian War Sailors Club in Brooklyn, where her husband served as president. She also was a member of the Staten Island Sail & Power Squadron and Nansen Lodge, Sons of Norway, in Travis.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Great Kills, where she frequently volunteered, as well as volunteering at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Eltingville.
Mrs. Bolt is described by family and friends as having a witty sense of humor and generous disposition. She was well-known in her neighborhood for offering a helping hand to anyone who might need it. She was also a pet-lover and took a rescued dog into her home. "She was fun-loving and kind-hearted," said her daughter-in-law, Trisha.
Knut, her husband, died in 1988. She also was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth, and her daughter, Elise Gabriel.
Surviving are two sisters, Ingeborg Hopkins and Lillian Lorentzen, and two grandsons.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood. Arrangements are being handled by the Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills.
