He is predeceased by his father Eugene Sullivan and grandparents Joseph and Mary Mason and John (Jack) and Catherine Sullivan.
Owen was born in Staten Island NY on August 21, 1963 to Marjorie and Eugene Sullivan. He was a resident at New Broadview Manor for 16 years, where he enjoyed living near the beach and spending time at the local library. Born and raised in Dongan Hills, he was a member of St. Ann’s parish and graduated Richmondtown Prep High School. During his time in Dongan Hills, Owen was widely known and loved throughout the community. He could typically be found walking the neighborhood, often with his radio, his bike or the family dog, exchanging smiles, stories and conversation with every person he encountered.
Owen loved to gather with family and friends for holidays, barbecues or any occasion. His dance moves were legendary. Invariably the life of the party, one was never left to wonder was Owen having a good time. Truly, he could light up a room with his infectious smile and cheerful banter. Owen loved to read and watch movies. He had a special attachment to Bay Terrace, Staten Island and also Oxford NY, where he would frequently visit and meet with friends at the local diner.
Throughout life, Owen acquired little of material value. Yet he lived most generously - giving graciously of his kindness and compassion, his friendship and love. We are humbled that one with so little could have given us all so much. It is our most sincere hope that is for what Owen will be remembered - the smiles and hugs, the laughter, the jokes, the playful banter, and yes, the legendary dance moves - for all the little gestures and nuances that connected him to so many people and made him so uniquely charming, endearing and abundantly loved.
Throughout his time here, Owen lived simply and with a full heart. How blessed we have been to have walked this road with him, and to have had him by our side through all of life’s many ups and downs. You have lived your life beautifully. And we will never stop missing you.
A short private service will be held at Casey Funeral Home 9:00 AM Friday May 8th followed by burial at Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island. We are very sorry current pandemic rules do not allow for attendance beyond immediate family, but a more appropriate memorial service will be held at a future date.
