Pamela attended Saint Fortunata’s and Saint Michael’s High School in Brooklyn. She worked as a secretary for the U.S. Trust Company in Manhattan where she met her late husband Terry. She then went on to starting a family and having her only daughter Jennifer Trought and devoting her whole life to her and her family. She was a very strong leader in the Girl Scout Community at St. Teresa and around the Island. She was also a mentor and administrator at her daughters dance studio Inspirations in Dance.
Pam is described as a very strong, loving, creative and giving person. She always put everyone else before herself and was everyone’s second mom. She had such a comforting and loving way that everyone was magnified to. She will be remembered for her good energy, determination, strength and contagious smile.
She loved to cook and is known for cooking delicious Italian food and always sharing it with her friends and family for holidays and get togethers. There was always more than enough to go around.
Pamela loved to do crafts, she was very creative along with her late mother Carmela DiLorenzo and daughter Jennifer Trought. Creating was something they always did together, especially during their Girl Scout days. She would plan crafts for her scouts to make at every meeting and made her signature elaborate table arrangements for events. Pam became a Girl Scout leader for her daughters group approximately 30 years ago. From that day on she devoted years and years of hard work to the Girl Scouts. She went on to a higher position such a Service Unit Manager and Coordinator of Religious Awards for scouting. She was a wonderful leader and bought so many opportunities to her scouts such as badges, trips, community service events and religious award opportunities. She was a great organizer mentor and teacher to the leaders under her. There was nothing she couldn’t tackle. She received many awards for her dedication to the Girl Scouts, one of the many awards She received was the religious award called the Elizabeth Ann Seton Award at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral.
In 2007 Pam started her influential position at her daughters dance studio Inspiration’s In Dance, Located on the North shore of Staten Island. She took care of it all, from the kids, the parents, the paperwork the ticket days, the recital days, the dance wear orders and of course the cleaning. She used her strong leadership skills from work and Girl Scouts every day to work beside her daughter day in and day out. She was truly the backbone of the entire business. Kids loved her motherly way and took to her instantly, she made so many people feel loved and welcomed, that was what she loved to do. Pam may not have danced but she had an ear for music and would always pick out songs for her daughter to choreograph to. She would stay with her daughter at the studio late at night while she choreographed dances. She so genuinely supported her daughter in her career and encouraged her every step of the way. Watching her daughter dance and create was her most favorite thing to do.
Pam was everyone’s caretaker. For some reason this seemed to be her purpose in life. She took care of multiple family members including her late bedridden father, Mario DiLorenzo before he died in 2008 and her late husband, Terry Trought before he died in 2021. She did it all with a smile on her face and with love no matter how hard It got.
Her greatest love was her daughter Jennifer, she devoted her entire life to her, they were inseparable, came as a pair and did everything together like best friends. In 2020 she became a grandmother to her only grandson Lukas Gabriel. She truly was the most wonderful Nana and she helped take great care of him. They had a beautiful connection since he was born, there is nothing like the love of a grandson and grandmother. From day one Baby Luka took to her motherly way and he just loved her so very much. She especially loved putting him to sleep, giving him a bottle and to sing & dance with him every day. They had such a special relationship that will live on forever and ever. Pam had such a life in her and a young spirit even until her last days alive. She put up a good fight during her final days of fighting Covid and almost made it out of the hospital and into rehab. She will be so greatly missed and loved by her daughter, grandson, family and friends. She was one of a kind and a true earth angel that can never be replaced. She is for sure an angel in heaven now.
