

Born in Tricarico, Italy, he moved to West Brighton in 1972.
Mr. Lamorte was a construction worker for Laborers International Union Of North America Local 731. He also worked as a private landscaper. Mr. Lamorte retired in the early 1990s.
The longtime borough resident was often in his backyard tending to his garden, which produced an abundance of vegetables and fruit, said family. He often gave food from his garden to others. In addition, he loved making wine.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Raffaella Santangelo; three daughters, Maria LaMorte-Wright, Margherita LaMorte, and Angela LaMorte; brother, Antonio; two sisters, Angela Guarino and Domenica Ficazzola, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Benedicta R.C. Church, West Brighton. Burial will follow at Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
