

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Peter A. Grancio, 63, of Westerleigh, an art teacher who was creative and will be remembered for his lively personality, died Thursday in Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, he moved to The Fountains in Sunnyside 24 years ago, and relocated to Westerleigh in 2004.
A graduate of Nazareth High School in Brooklyn, he held a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the School of Visual Arts, Manhattan, and received a master's degree in education from Brooklyn College.
Mr. Grancio was an art teacher for 40 years. He worked for 20 years in the parochial school system and 20 years with the city Board of Education.
He had a passion for art and enjoyed painting and carving. He also liked playing golf and treasured spending time with his family.
He attended St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Castleton Corners.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Donna, and his sons, Peter and Paul.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa's Church. Burial will be in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn.
