

Retired FDNY, beloved husband, father & grandfather Peter E. Martino (1936-2022) a life-long resident of Staten Island passed away peacefully on April 14, 2022. Peter was a graduate of P.S. 21 and Port Richmond High School. He became a member of the New York City Fire Department in 1960, serving his entire career at Engine 161, South Beach, Staten Island, until retiring in 1983. During his tenure with the FDNY, he served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. After retiring from the FDNY, he was employed as a school bus driver with Atlantic Express for the next 20 years. He enjoyed playing cards and watching old movies, family vacations to Lake George and Saratoga and trips to Atlantic City. Peter resided in Willowbrook for 60 years with his loving wife Vera, where they raised three children, Nina, Joanne and Peter. He was a devoted grandfather to Kristen Long (Michael) and great-grandfather to Matthew Sweeney and Kaylee and Aubree Long. Peter was the loving son of the late Celia and Fred Martino, brother of the late Joanne Gianna and survived by his two brothers Robert (Mecky) and John (Ellen) and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Staten Island NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20 at 10:30 a.m. from Holy Family Church, Watchogue Road and interment to follow at Moravian Cemetery.
