Philomena Vasta

A longtime resident in the community of Grasmere in Staten Island, NY, and carried herself with a quiet dignity and steady grace that left a lasting impression on those who knew her.

Philomena earned a high school degree and brought a dependable, caring presence to her work throughout her life. She served as a nurse aide for the former Doctor's Hospital, offering comfort through attentive service and a calm, capable manner. She also worked as a seamstress, a role that reflected her patience, precision, and the pride she took in doing things well.

Philomena was married to Joseph Vasta Sr. for 33 years. She shared her home with her pet, Missey, and held close the bonds of family through the years. She is survived by her sister Anna and her son Joseph Jr. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her son Henry, her daughter Phyllis, and five of her siblings.

Visitation will be held at Virginia Funeral Chapel, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314, on August 14, 2026, from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 101 Cromwell Ave, Staten Island, NY 10304, on August 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A Committal Service will follow at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Rd, Staten Island, NY 10306, on August 14, 2026, from 11:15 am to 11:30 am.
