Preston "Moe" F. Plumb

A proud veteran of the "Greatest Generation" he was drafted into the army in March of 1943 at the age of 18. He served as a second lieutenant navigator of a B24 bomber in the Air Force stationed in Bungay, England. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Air medal and was then promoted to first lieutenant.

Moe attended Syracuse University on the GI bill and graduated in 1949. He then joined the NYPD serving 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant.

He then went on to work 19 years in the business world as a financial officer with the U.S.Trust Co.

Moe was a loyal Brooklyn Dodgers fan until their move and then became a N.Y.Mets fan. He was honored in Sept.2018 as a "Veteran of the Game" during a Mets game.

He enjoyed taking cruises, trips to Atlantic City and following the Syracuse Orange in all their sports.

He was a devout catholic and a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church for over 75 years.

Moe was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Anna (nee Ghigliotti) until her passing in 2010 and his sister Marjory Romond.

He is survived by his children Robert, Barbara Sterlacci, Patricia Boland and her husband William as well as 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314, US, on July 6, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will take place at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 1091 Forest Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310, US, on July 7, 2026, at 11:00 am.

A Committal Service will follow at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Rd, Staten Island, NY 10306, US, on July 7, 2026, at 12:15 pm.
