

Todt Hill resident Richard A. (Rick) Gaydos, 50, a loving son, husband, father and brother who was known for his business success and philanthropy, died Saturday of cardiac arrhythmia while vacationing on the Caribbean island of Anguilla.
Born in Manhattan, he had been a resident of Todt Hill for 19 years.
Mr. Gaydos was a partner at S.J. Energy Partners, Inc., Brooklyn.
A graduate of Holy Cross High School, Queens, Mr. Gaydos attended Pierce College, Woodland Hills, Ca.
Mr. Gaydos was generous with both his time and his money. He was a longtime volunteer and supporter of Staten Island University Hospice. Also, he was the chess coordinator and a CYO basketball coach for several years at St. Joseph Hill Academy elementary school.
His passions were music and graffiti. Mr. Gaydos also particularly enjoyed vacationing with his family. His summer rituals in Southampton, N.Y., with his family were something he always looked forward to.
Mr. Gaydos always maintained his strong Panamanian roots.
Charismatic and social, Mr. Gaydos had a wide circle of friends. "He'd make friends with anybody,'' said his brother, David. "He walks into a room and everybody knows him.''
Mr. Gaydos supported numerous charitable causes through the years and was known for his big-hearted nature, family said. "Rick would give the shirt off his back to a guy on the street,'' his brother said. "He was always giving and helping others.''
Mr. Gaydos was an active parishioner of St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Castleton Corners.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 21 years, Julie; a son, Gabriel; a daughter, Isabella Gaydos; his father, Richard A.; his mother, Lupe Navarro Fiorino; his sisters, Carolyn Miazga and Jennifer Gaydos; his stepmother, Kathy Gaydos, and his stepfather, Steven Fiorino.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey Funeral Home, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa's Church, both Castleton Corners. Burial will be in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn.
