Richard Joseph Marucheau

August 13, 1950 – July 24, 2026

Richard Marucheau, age 75, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 13, 1950, Richard lived a life defined by faith, family, courage, and a lifelong commitment to serving others.

Richard was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his children, Dawn, Scott, and David; son-in-law Charlie; daughters-in-law Kim and Savanna; his beloved grandchildren James, Lauren, Hailey, Emily, Katie, and Maisie; and his brothers Joseph, Johnny, Thomas, Patrick, and Paul. He is now reunited in heaven with his beloved granddaughter, Kaitlyn, whom he loved dearly.

A man of deep faith, Richard was a proud member of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church. His faith guided him throughout his life and was reflected in the kindness and compassion he showed to others.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973 and later continued his military service with the United States Army National Guard from 1976 to 1998. Throughout his military career, he earned numerous awards and commendations, including the National Guard Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Humanitarian Medal, and multiple service ribbons. He was honorably discharged from the Navy and received recognition for more than 20 years of dedicated service.

In 1981, Richard began his proud career as a firefighter, a role he cherished until his retirement in 2011. He proudly served with Engine 90 and Engine 279, forming lifelong friendships and making a lasting impact through his dedication and bravery. To Richard, being a firefighter was more than a job—it was a calling.

After retirement, Richard continued helping others through the Disaster Assistance Response Team, working alongside organizations such as Tunnel to Towers and Veterans of America.

Those who knew Richard will remember his generous heart, sense of humor, and love for his family. He especially loved Christmas and looked forward to putting on his famous “RED” suit and bringing joy to those around him. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved making them smile—especially when he would sneak them $2 every chance he had.

Richard’s kindness and generosity continued even after his passing through his gift of cornea donation, giving two individuals the opportunity to see. It was a final reflection of the caring and selfless life he lived.

Richard’s legacy is one of service, love, and compassion. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing he is at peace and reunited with Kaitlyn in heaven.

He will forever be remembered by his family, friends, fellow firefighters, veterans, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
