

Born in 1934, in the great borough of Brooklyn, NY to Nicola and Maria Falcone. She was the oldest girl of 4 siblings: John, Fanny and Vera. Rita attended Bay Ridge High School and Brooklyn College for one year while working at Chemical Bank. Shortly after she left the bank, she embarked on a 56-year marriage to Ed Orlando. Her life was devoted to her husband and 5 children. She was positive and confident and managed through life and all its struggles with great fortitude.
As busy as she was, Rita was multifaceted and considered a: gourmet cook, avid opera buff, home gardener, knitter, card player, and traveler. Traveling with her husband and daughters, Rita had many adventures. She also loved staying at the family cottage in East Quogue, NY or on the beach in Vasto, Italy with her Italian relatives..
Her love of family and friends was paramount. Friends were an integral part of her long and vibrant life- from weekly card games to formal dinner parties- she relished her time with everyone.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband- Ed Orlando; brother- John Falcone and sister-Fanny Abatematteo.
She is survived by her 5 children: Angela, Mary Ann, Elisa, Anthony, Edmund, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, a sister, Vera, and several nieces and nephews.
We celebrate her long and meaningful life and all that she shared with her family and friends!
