

Born and raised in New Brighton, she had lived in Todt Hill for 35 years, before moving to Westerleigh. In 2013, she became a resident at Silver Lake Specialized Care Center, Brighton Heights.
She was a woman who achieved success in the banking industry at a time when women were not in the workforce, family said. Ms. Van Name worked for more than 30 years as an executive vice president at the former Staten Island Saving Bank, predominately in Dongan Hills, until her retirement in 1981.
A member and former treasurer of the Staten Island chapter of the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), she was also a longtime member of the Business and Professional Women's Association of Staten Island and Staten Island Concert Association.
She was active in the community and volunteered at Snug Harbor Culture Center and in the gift shop at Staten Island University Hospital and was honored for her efforts.
The Curtis High School graduate enjoyed listening to opera, shopping and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
"My aunt was an intelligent positive person. She was tall in stature despite being only 4'11. Her generosity to family and to others was an inspiration to all. Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her," said her nephew, Arthur Silva.
Her husband of 30 years, Charles, died in 1984.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Grasmere
