

Robert R. Coyne Sr., 79, a cherished partner, father, grandfather, and brother from Farmingdale, New Jersey, passed away on January 1, 2026, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born to George and Betty, he is survived by his partner Carol; his devoted children Kerry and Robert Jr., along with their spouses Jim Davis and Brenda Coyne. His beloved grandchildren, Riley, Shane, and Courtney Davis, and Meghan, Kieran, and Finley Coyne, who will dearly miss their "Pop-Pop." He is also survived by his brother John. Robert was predeceased by his wife Carolyn, brother George, sister Betsy, and grandchild Madeline.
Robert graduated from Port Richmond High School and fulfilled his dream by joining the New York City Police Department, where he became a detective in the 17th precinct. After retiring, he joined American Express and led the credit card fraud department for 20 years, employing his former police colleagues to build a successful team. His work at American Express took him to destinations abroad where he made new friends.
An avid golfer and member of Eagle Oaks Golf Club, Robert loved playing golf and traveling with his partner Carol. He enjoyed golf trips with friends and was known for his entertaining storytelling. With a caring heart and many friends throughout his life, he raised his family on Staten Island and spent time in Mantoloking Shores before building his dream home in Farmingdale. Proud of his children and grandchildren, Robert considered them his greatest achievement, despite his successful career in law enforcement and at American Express. His stories will be remembered forever.
A memorial service will be held on Friday January 9th at 10 a.m. to honor his life and legacy at Blessed Sacrament Church on Staten Island, followed by a luncheon.
