Robert Scott Danischewski of Staten Island, New York passed away on June 13, 2026, after a short illness. Rob, fondly known as Robbie, was born on Staten Island, November 22, 1957, on his mother’s birthday. He was 68 years old. Rob shared his life with family, friends, and community.
Rob graduated from City University of New York-Baruch College, in 1980 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, B.B.A., in Insurance. He served as Vice President of Frank B. Sterner Independent Insurance Agency. When Frank B. Sterner merged with the Russo-Picciurro Insurance Agency in 1998, Rob became the Personal Lines Manager. In 1999, another merger with the Maloy Agency formed RPM Insurance Agency and Rob moved into the position of the Commercial Lines Manager. He also served as a Notary Public. Rob had a career that spanned 44 years and was very well respected in the field.
In addition to his work, he was always looking for and acting on ways to help others. In the late 1970’s through the early 1980’s, he volunteered for World Hunger Year, now known as WhyHunger.org, originally founded by Harry Chapin, Singer-Songwriter-Philanthropist. Rob has also been a long-standing member of the Staten Island Kiwanis Club, serving as President in 1992 and Secretary in 2021. He took over managing the Walk-a-thon, an annual event, after his father passed away in 1984. The Walk-a-thon was a popular and successful fundraiser, benefitting the March of Dimes. His father, Marc C. Danischewski started the event, and Rob helped it continue in his memory. Rob also worked on clothes and food drives, and Kamp Kiwanis, a Summer Camp for children ages 8-14, and a two-week camp for adults with special needs. He received three Kaiser Fellow Awards (1998, 2011, 2014), and a Diamond Level Kaiser Fellow Award, a great honor for Kiwanians for their work with Kamp Kiwanis. He also served 25 years on the Board of Directors for Northfield Community LDC, and said, “I was honored to witness the work of this organization that focused on Housing, Weatherization Services, and improving Economic and Community Development in the Port Richmond neighborhood.”
Rob enjoyed playing and watching sports. In High School, he was on the football team. He was an avid, knowledgeable sports fan. Go Knicks, go Yankees, go Mets, GO GIANTS! All the new babies in his family have pictures of them in some type of Giants apparel. He played on multiple softball teams and golf was often thrown in the mix. Rob was most proud of winning a mixed golf tournament with his mother, Barbara Danischewski, as his teammate. He loved the ocean and going to the beach and the time spent there with family and friends.
Rob was preceded in death by his wife, Melissa. He leaves behind his family, Marc & Julie Danischewski, Lynn & John Hollyfield, Rita Danischewski, Adam Danischewski, Kristen Danischewski, William Friel, Jaime Punla-Danischewski, Reginald Punla, Jason Danischewski, David Danischewski, Stephen Danischewski, Keely Hollyfield, Patrick O’Brien, Emma Hollyfield, Hayley Littlejohn-Vance, Matt Vance, Lilikoi Friel, Liam Friel, Toby Punla, Cristiano Punla, and Julieta Punla.
What really shines about Rob is how he touched so many lives. This is evident in his numerous, long-lasting friendships and his love of family. He had so much empathy and always put others before himself. Rob’s dedication to family was clear through his daily actions. He was devoted to his mother, Barbara Danischewski, and visited her every day for the last several years of her life. Rob would often talk about his nieces and nephews, their accomplishments, and how proud he was of all of them. He was sensitive and authentic. Rob’s kindness towards others, his willingness to help, and his generosity made him a true, living angel. Those who were fortunate to call him friend knew he was a genuine person. Rob was funny and could always make you laugh, even in the toughest of times. He had a significant impact on others and will be remembered dearly for the moments shared and the memories created. While we will miss Rob’s physical presence, the influence he had will be long lasting. May those whose lives he touched carry the memories that reflect his integrity, character, and spirit.
