Robert Senk

Robert "Bobby" Senk passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 3, 2026, at the age of 77.

What can be said about a man who treasured his family and friends and served his country with pride?

Bobby was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving honorably during the Vietnam War. Though he rarely spoke about his military service, it remained a deeply personal chapter of his life. He carried the quiet strength, humility, and resilience of a man who served his country with honor.

Following his military service, Bobby dedicated much of his career to the Staten Island Ferry, where he proudly served as a Deckhand with the Department of Marine and Aviation. As the beloved keeper of the "6" Shack, he was well known and respected by his coworkers. The recent discovery of his 30-year service pin stands as a testament to his many years of faithful and dedicated service.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen Hogan Senk, and by his brothers, Kenneth "Kenny" Senk and John Senk.

Outside of work, Bobby embraced life with enthusiasm. He was a passionate softball player in the Staten Island Ferry League and proudly served as a bar league softball captain, earning the respect and admiration of teammates both on and off the field.

An avid golfer, Bobby rarely passed up an opportunity to hit the links. Whether enjoying annual golf trips to Florida with his West Brighton buddies or playing as a proud member of Jody's 12-Hole Senior League, golf brought him lifelong friendships and countless cherished memories. If there was a golf outing, Bobby was there.

Each year, Bobby eagerly anticipated traveling to Harrah's Las Vegas with his brothers, continuing a cherished tradition for more than 15 years. Known as the family's Video Poker Champion, he relished the friendly competition, the laughter, and, most importantly, the time spent together.

Jody's Club Forest was Bobby's second home, and his Jody's friends became his extended family. He treasured the friendships, camaraderie, and countless hours spent at Jody's - except for Sundays, which were always Bobby's day of rest. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Bobby's Jody's family for their love, friendship, and unwavering support, especially his special friends Tisha, Jeff, Chris, Dave, Alphonse.... and so many others whose friendship meant so much to him. Your kindness and companionship enriched Bobby's life in countless ways.

Bobby will be remembered for his quiet strength, loyal friendships, unwavering dedication to his work, love of sports, and devotion to his family. His kindness, gentle sense of humor, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him will forever remain in their hearts.

He is survived by his brother, Norman Senk; his sisters-in-law, Lorri Senk, Mary Senk, and Lorraine Senk; and his beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews: Suzanne Busby and John Busby (Kevin and Brendan); Kenneth "KC" Senk and Jennifer Senk (Riley and Kyle); Laurie and Anthony Gavin (Sabrina); Deborah and John Lastella (Christopher and Kaitlyn); and John and Nicole Senk (John III and Molly).

KC and Jen Senk shared:

"It was a privilege to have been there for him during his last few months. Visiting him with his favorite Chips Ahoy cookies and seeing his smile and those bright blue eyes meant so much to us. His witty sense of humor always shined through, even when he pretended to be sleeping. He lived a full and meaningful life, surrounded by the love of his family and friends until the very end. We feel grateful to have shared those special moments with him, and we will always remember them."

When asked how they would describe Bobby, Norman and Lorri paused and reflected on a favorite quote that perfectly captured Bobby's life:

"A life is measured not by the years we live, but by the friendships we make, the laughter we share, and the love we leave behind."

Norman then added:

"The days ahead will be spent missing my best friend and my brother, whom I loved very much. We never called each other by our first names—we always greeted one another with, 'How are you doing, Brother?' I will always think of him, smile at his stubbornness, and remember how deeply he loved his family and treasured his friends. Until we meet again, Brother."

Family and friends are invited to a visitation and celebration of Bobby's life at Harmon Funeral Home on Forest Avenue on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Immediately following the visitation, all are welcome to gather at Jody's Club Forest to continue celebrating Bobby's life by sharing stories, laughter, and memories of a man who will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to organizations that support and assist our nation's veterans in memory of Robert J. Senk. Your generosity will honor Bobby's service to our country and continue his legacy by helping those who have served.
