

Rose was born in Margiliano, Italy, on January 23, 1924, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 3. She was raised in Newark, NJ, and attended Barringer High School, where she excelled academically and was a proud member of the National Honor Society. After graduating, Rose attended Berkeley Secretarial School and embarked on a 14-year career at Manufacturers Hanover Trust.
On May 29, 1949, Rose married the love of her life, George John Emmon, with whom she celebrated 72 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in January 2022. Together, they raised four daughters: Susan (Rogan), Camille (McEwan), Palma (Brown), and Denise (Flynn). Rose was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother to six grandchildren: Dawn Baber, Danielle Flynn Pantaleo, Tara Rogan, Megan Flynn Mauro, Joseph Flynn, and Kelley Brown, and great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Rose was actively involved in her community and cherished memberships in organizations such as the St. Clare Club Crafty Ladies, Mount Loretto Friendship Club, Women’s Auxiliary of the Staten Island Historical Society, and the New Dorp AARP. She was known for her dedication to crocheting, creating beautiful pieces for family, friends, and charitable causes, for which she received several awards and accolades.
Rose will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and love for her family. Her passion for crocheting, community service, and leadership in singing "God Bless America" at the New Dorp AARP brought joy to many.
Rose Margaret Salierno Emmon is survived by her daughters Susan Rogan, Camille McEwan, Palma Brown, and Denise Flynn; sons-in-law Timothy Rogan, Edward McEwan, John Brown, and Joseph Flynn; grandchildren Dawn Baber, Danielle Flynn Pantaleo, Tara Rogan, Megan Flynn Mauro, Joseph Flynn, and Kelley Brown,and ten great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
