Longtime Staten Islander Rose Giunta, 91, of Annadale, known for being compassionate and giving, passed away on Sept. 14, 2018, after a short illness.
Born in New York City, after marriage, lived in Brooklyn, then moved to Staten Island in 1964.
Rose had a lifelong appreciation for music and dance, that early on, resulted in her meeting her husband, Anthony, at the famous Palladium in New York City.
Their 60-plus years of marriage resulted in four children, Charles, Robert, Perry Giunta, and Lynn Stevens, and three grandchildren, Lauren Giunta-Hall, Damian I. Thomas, and Anthony J. Giunta, and two wonderful great-grandchildren, Penelope and Lucia Giunta-Hall.
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Giunta. Rose, the family matriarch, was a loving and kind woman, who always had time to extend love and friendship.
She was a proud member of the Great Kills Friendship Club where her fine baking resulted in her nickname, "The Cookie Lady." Mrs. Giunta, a retired Macy's employee, enjoyed the relationships and personal growth that working provided her.
The wake will be at Harmon Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be take place at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.
