STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Rosemarie Durante, 70, of New Springville, a homemaker and retired bus matron who was devoted to her family, died Tuesday in Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Castleton Corners.
She was born Rosemarie Calabrese and raised in Brooklyn. In 1999, she moved to New Springville and lived there until three months ago, when she entered the nursing home.
Mrs. Durante graduated from Lafayette High School in her native community.
Primarily a homemaker, she also worked as a bus matron for 15 years.
A doting grandmother, she enjoyed attending all her grandchildren's activities and functions. She also enjoyed watching the New York Yankees on television.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Salvatore; her three sons, Robert, Tommy and Salvatore; her brother, Ralph Calabrese, and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Old Tennent Cemetery Chapel, Tennent, N.J. Arrangements are being handled by the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills.
