Rosemary V. SCRAGG

Rosemary Nelson Scragg, Staten Island resident for nearly 60 years, died on March 13, 2019. She was a single mother, working woman, impeccable dresser, lover of the performing arts, travel, and music. She was known among her family and friends for her intelligence, integrity, and sense of humor.
Rosemary was born December 15, 1946 in Astoria, NY, grew up in South Beach, attended P.S. 46, New Dorp High School, and graduated in 1964. She received her Associates Degree in Accounting from the College of Staten Island in 1966, being one of just a few women seeking business degrees.
After college, she worked for American Airlines in Manhattan. Her marriage to Robert Scragg in 1969 later ended in divorce. Rosemary worked for U.S. Lines in Staten Island from 1980-87, then Transammonia, Inc. in Manhattan. She received her B.S. in 1991 in Accounting & Finance from the College of Staten Island. She lived in Arden Heights from 1974-2005, then moved to Montclair, NJ. She worked at Transammonia, Inc. for 27 years, before retiring in 2014.
Sadly, Rosemary was diagnosed with dementia in 2015, and suffered a series of seizures and strokes in 2018 which led to her declining health.
Rosemary was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Nelson and Mary Carlucci, and is survived by her daughter, Sandra Scragg, son-in-law, Brian Brodeur, and grandson, Alex Brodeur. A memorial service for Rosemary will be held at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Avenue, Saturday, March 23, from 2-4pm.
