It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Rufino, a man whose warmth, humor, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him. He was a beautiful soul — funny, creative, intelligent, and endlessly kind. His gentle presence had a way of making those around him feel calm and loved in a way that no one else could. Papi had a wonderful sense of humor and a mischievous streak, especially when it came to his children. His knack for playful pranks — like hiding in the dark to startle his twins with a soft and creepy “meow” — brought laughter and unforgettable memories to our family. He was the kind of father who could turn any moment into fun, filling our home with light and laughter. Among my favorite childhood memories are the times we spent doodling on his big belly with markers — a silly tradition that became something special. He’d relax, smile and let us turn him into a living canvas. It was in those quiet, joyful moments that his love for life and family truly shone. As an adult, I came to see another side of my father — the wise, reflective man who had so much to share. Our conversations were full of insight and love, and I’ll always be grateful for those talks and for the time we shared. Even in his final weeks, his grace and humor never faded, and the care and compassion shown by friends and family during that time meant the world to us. Papi lived a life defined by kindness. He made the world better in small, meaningful ways — like ripples in a lake, spreading outward to touch everyone he met. His goodness, laughter, and love continue to live on in all of us. To honor his memory, we will keep spreading that same kindness — those same ripples — in our own lives. That is the legacy he leaves us. Papi, thank you for showing us what it means to be a good human being. We love you deeply and will carry your spirit with us always. Your honored and forever grateful son, David.
