

Russell Cannizzaro was dedicated to his family, always there to offer help and assistance any way he could. He was a man of few words, but his character spoke volumes. He truly was the patriarch of the family. At the age of 85 he passed away peacefully in his sleep. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY moving to Staten Island, NY in 1964. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is the son of the late Leonard Cannizzaro and Philomena (Schimicci). Russell graduated from Brooklyn Academy and worked as a Master plumber and was a plumbing inspector for the City of New York. He married his one and only love Lorraine Linsky and settled in Dongan Hills in 1964. This April they would have celebrated 63 years of marriage. He was a man who put family above all else. He was an active part of his grandchildren’s lives attending all of their sport events and an avid Yankee and Giant fan. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially hosting many Christmas Eve holidays. Russell is survived by three children, Russell Cannizzaro, Laura Vitale and Michael L. Cannizzaro and predeceased by Margaret Hansen. Along with their spouses, Susan Cannizzaro, and Christine Cannizzaro. He deeply loved his grandchildren Anthony Hansen, Russell Hansen, Daniele Piletto, Thomas Vitale, Russell E. Cannizzaro, Kimberly A. Cannizzaro, Michael R. Cannizzaro, and Erica M. Cannizzaro and five great grandchildren. Dahlia Piletto, Brielle Hansen and Noelle Hansen, Orion Cannizzaro and Summer Cannizzaro. Arrangements by Casey Funeral Home visiting hours are Thursday 4p - 8p, and a funeral mass will be held at St. Anns’s Roman Catholic Church Friday April 8, 10:00 am.
