October 18, 1927 – July 11, 2025
Ruth LaGattuta was born in Manhattan to the late Peter and Beatrice LaGattuta. Throughout her life, she called many parts of New York home—moving from Brooklyn to Queens and eventually settling in Staten Island in the 1970s.
Ruth was an avid reader, especially fond of the works of Danielle Steele and Stuart Woods. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—bingo nights, playing cards, word search puzzles, and enjoying a good cup of tea with a Mallomar. She also loved watching old movies on the Turner Classic Movies channel, often finding comfort and nostalgia in the classics. Most of all, Ruth cherished spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving sister, Joan Saldi; her nieces Karen Ferington, Kathy Peterson, Ann Dubé, and Jean Saldi; and her nephews John Saldi, David Dalto, Daniel LaGattuta, and David LaGattuta. She also leaves behind many great-nieces, great-nephews, and a new generation of great-great nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her sister Mary Dalto, her brother Anthony LaGattuta, and her nephew Peter Saldi.
Her warmth, wit, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
