

Born and raised Ruth MacArthur in Queens, she graduated from high school there. She moved to Dongan Hills in 1964 and later settled in Grant City.
Ms. McComb worked as a bookkeeper for Lincoln Plumbing Supply, Great Kills. She retired in 1986.
She treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ms. McComb enjoyed reading, watching television, cooking, and was an accomplished baker.
“My Grandmom made the best apple pie in the world,” said her grandson, Matthew McComb.
Along with her grandson, Ms. McComb is survived by her son, Thomas, and seven more grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s R.C. Church, both Dongan Hills. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, L.I.
