It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Salvatore Cardinale, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and loyal friend, who left us peacefully on August 22, 2024, at the age of 90.
Salvatore was born on March 18, 1934, in Carini, a small town in Palermo, Sicily, where he grew up surrounded by the beauty of his homeland. He dedicated 80 wonderful years to his craft as a barber, where his exceptional talent transformed not only appearances, but also lives. Salvatore was known for his gentle touch, keen eye for detail, and his ability to make everyone who walked through his door feel like family.
Beyond his dedication to his profession, Salvatore had a deep passion for music, dancing, and particularly for singing. His powerful, but beautiful voice was a source of joy for all who knew him, and he often captivated those around him with renditions of his favorite song, "O Sole Mio." All he needed was an audience, and he would fill the room with warmth and emotion, creating unforgettable moments and memories.
Family was the cornerstone of Salvatore’s life. He was married for 52 years to the love of his life, Piera. He cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, creating treasured memories that will resonate for generations. Most memorable is the tradition he started by getting the family together for summer vacations spent at the shore in Wildwood NJ. This has now spanned – and is continuing - for four generations. His love for family was boundless, and every family gathering brought warmth and laughter that would fill the room. Salvatore’s legacy of kindness and dedication to family, friends - even neighbors around him - will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Carmelina & Giuliano, Anthony & Michele, and Rosalia & Anthony; seven loving grandchildren, Christina, Julia, Anthony-Salvatore, Amanda, Gabriella, Juliana, Anthony-Joseph: great-grandchild, Vienna; brother, Vittorio; sister, Piera and countless friends and relatives who cherished the moments they shared with him and whose lives were touched by his gracious heart.
Rest in peace, Salvatore. You are forever in our hearts.
