Born in Manhattan, he was brought to South Beach as a child and moved to Annadale in 1969.
After graduating from New Dorp High School, he went to work as an independent contractor, mason and brick-layer. He retired in 1996 after 45 years.
Mr. Giordano enjoyed gardening, especially vegetables. He also enjoyed visiting Florida and Atlantic City.
“He was very family-oriented,” said his wife of 54 years, the former Carmella Scaglione. “He loved his children and grandchildren.”
Mr. Giordano was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church, Huguenot.
In addition to his wife, Carmella, surviving are two sons, Rocco and Michael; a daughter, Michelle Marchese; three sisters, Marie Marteliano, Jean Sallemi and Angela Antonelli, and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Casey-McCallum- Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
