

Born Sandra Lala in Manhattan, Mrs. Piccirilli moved to New Dorp with her family as a teenager. After marrying, she relocated to Dongan Hills. In 2011, she settled in Watervliet, N.Y.
In 1945, she married Samuel D. Piccirilli, a POW who was held at Stalag 3B POW Camp, after his safe return from serving in World War II.
Mrs. Piccirilli worked as a school lunch aide for 10 years, primarily at Monsignor Farrell High School, Oakwood, and was a supervisor upon her retirement in 1977.
"She was happy serving the students at Monsignor Farrell," said her daughter-in-law, Eileen Piccirilli.
A master baker, Mrs. Piccirilli was famous for her crumb cake, biscotti and cut-out cookies.
Before moving to Watervliet, she was a parishioner of St. Ann's R.C. Church in Dongan Hills and was member of its Golden Age Club, as well as a member of the Mid-Island AARP and the Grandmothers Club.
Her husband of 33 years, Samuel, died in 1979.
Surviving are two sons, Patrick and Joseph; a brother, Angelo; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Ann's Church. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
