

Sally was born in Manhattan to Irish immigrants John and Sarah Waters. She moved to Elizabeth as a teenager, graduating from St. Patrick's High School and then attending Seton Hall University at night, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business in 1969. She worked for several years in the radio and TV industry in New York, rising to Director of Sales Marketing Research for a TV network before leaving work to raise a family.
Sally moved to Whippany in 1979 where she volunteered extensively– particularly at the HTPTA, Whippanong Library, and Hanover Township community events. An avid photographer, many of her photographs, especially of children-focused events, were regularly published in the Hanover Eagle. Sally enjoyed bowling in the HTWBL and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She volunteered for many years at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, the Community Theater (Morristown), and First Night Morris. Sally was also a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 131 (Cedar Knolls). An active member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Whippany, Sally taught CCD, was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Columbiettes.
Sally is survived by her husband, Gerry, of 46 years, her sons John (Rebecca) of Webster, NY and Paul (Jacqueline) of Whippany, 5 grandchildren (Brynne, Kyleigh, Joshua, Sophia and Alexa) and her many 'siblings-in-law', nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends – both here and in Ireland. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Jack.
A Memorial Mass and life celebration has been scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 90 Whippany Rd, Whippany, NJ 07981.
