Sharon was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Health High School in 1962. She married her “saint of a husband” Ron (her words, not his), on May 20, 1967 and moved to Great Kills with their awesome, amazing daughters (their words, not hers, haha!) in 1981 where she remained until her passing. She was a parishioner and former Eucharistic Minister at St Clare’s Church.
Sharon devoted her time, love, and life to her family and friends. Anyone that knew her knows she never met a stranger, everyone became a friend. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, Nana, and loyal friend to many. She took pleasure in reading, was an avid napper, and enjoyed traveling to Washington D.C. and Canada with her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ron Nelson, her daughters, Erin Nelson and Amanda Thompson, son-in-law, John Thompson, and grandchildren, Julia, Autumn, Jacob, Marin, and Grayson, all of Randleman, NC.
Visitation for Sharon will be held Friday, September 27, 2019 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 9:45am at St. Clare’s Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund in her honor.
