Born in Charlotte, N.C., he was brought to Port Richmond as a child and graduated from McKee High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He lived in Port Richmond before moving to Brooklyn about 10 years ago.
He was a welder at the former Nassau Smelting and Refining Co., Richmond Valley.
He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, but also liked listening to “oldies but goodies music,” playing cards and fishing. A fan of the Yankees, he liked watching baseball games.
Surviving are a son, Kiron Williams, a daughter, Christel Williams; his father, Robert Sr.; two brothers, Robert Jr. and Keefe, and two grandsons.
The funeral service will be on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills. Burial will follow in Calverton (L.I.) National Cemetery.
