Born in West Brighton, he was brought to Westerleigh at the age of 12.
A graduate of Port Richmond High School, Mr. Dunne worked for 10 years at the former Deiner Lumber in West Brighton. Prior to that, he worked for several years as a track worker for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Mr. Dunne was a member of the Richmond Council of the Knights of Columbus.
He was parishioner of Holy Family R.C. Church, Westerleigh.
Mr. Dunne enjoyed fishing and playing bocce.
He was also avid fan of the Mets and the Jets.
"He was a great uncle and he was loved by his many nieces and nephews," said his mother, Adele Dunne.
Along with his mother, Adele, also surviving are two brothers, Paul and Patrick, and four sisters, Anne Marie Dolinac, Teresa Tolan, Janine Dunne and Chantel Iorizzo.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 9:45 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Arrangements include cremation.
