Susan Siryk, 60, passed away March 25, 2016, from cancer. Born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y., she resided in Great Kills, Staten Island, for 24 years.
Susan lived with and is survived by her only sibling, Stacy. They were extremely close. She is also survived by her two loving and loyal dogs, Maisie and Rigby; her loving aunt, Ina Cheslak, of Florida, and many loving cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Wanda Siryk, and her husband, George Fortcher.
Susan graduated from Tilden High School in Brooklyn. She worked for the Home Life Insurance Company in Manhattan for 11 years, then the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in February of 2015 from the Great Kills Post Office.
She enjoyed shopping, going to Disney World with her sister, Stacy, and watching old movies and TV shows (with the original "Psycho" being her favorite movie and "Leave It to Beaver" being among one of her favorite TV shows). Stacy, her sister, said that either one would do anything for each other. Susan was Stacy's best friend and she could not have asked for a better sister. Jehovah blessed Stacy with her sister and parents, for which she will be eternally grateful. Stacy's heart is broken right now, but Jehovah will get her through until the day they will hopefully all be reunited again.
Visiting is on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. 10308. Depart for the cemetery at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Interment is in Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens, Queens.
