Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Native Islander
Thomas F. Cosgrove, 84, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on Staten Island on May 19, 1935, the son of the late Gerald and Alice (Rice) Cosgrove.
A graduate of McKee High School, where he was an Advance Staten Island All-Star in basketball, Tom earned an Associate Degree from the College of Staten Island. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 as a specialist. He retired from AT&T after 33 years as a Communications Tech, and retired again after 10 more years working on telephony for the MTA.
Together with this wife of 55 years, Ann, Tom raised his family of four sons on Staten Island, enjoyed family barbeques, summer vacations, playing cards, and gardening. He was a congregant of St Adalbert & St Roch’s parish.
Tom is survived by his wife Ann Edwards Cosgrove and four sons: John and his wife, Theresa, of Clifton Park, NY; Thomas and his wife Nina, of Branchburgh, NJ; Patrick of Caldwell, NJ; and Gerald of Staten Island; seven grandchildren: Sean, Kevin, Nick, Catherine, Aidan, Patrick, and Emily; four sisters: Elizabeth Denault of Stafford, Virginia; Mary Alice Joinson of Staten Island; Jane Lee of Wayne, New Jersey; and Kathleen Kliesch and her husband, Vincent, of Staten Island; and two brothers: Gerald Cosgrove and Edward Cosgrove, and his wife Leonora, both of Staten Island. He was predeceased by his brother John. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and friends.
