

Thomas P. Hyland, 68, passed away on July 15th, 2017 at RUMC. Thomas was born April 9th, 1949, in Brooklyn, NY. Thomas, a West Brighton resident for the last 23 years, spend a majority of his of life in Bayridge and then moved to Rosebank, Staten Island in 1974 with his late wife Deborah. Thomas first met Deborah in Manhattan when she was 16 and he was 20 while she working as a secretary at a law firm, and he was working as a clerk on Wall Street. Thomas graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in 1967. Shortly after, he started working at the New Stock Exchange, where he became a specialist stockbroker in 1982. He worked as a trader for Henderson Brothers for 16 years, and 8 years for LaBranche. Thomas served in the Marine Corps, was a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, and a board member of the Seton Foundation, a charity he was involved with for many years.
Thomas enjoyed spending time at his Upstate home, going to Disney World and Puerto Rico with family, and going to Myrtle Beach and Atlantic City with friends and family. It can't be said how much he loved playing golf and going to St. Johns games, as well. Thomas also enjoyed hanging out with his friends at his local bar Duffy’s. In addition, he was an avid sports fan, with the Mets and Jets being his favorite teams. Moreover, he loved reading the newspaper, doing crossword puzzles, and playing Sudoku and lotto daily. And not to be forgotten, his is favorite TV shows were Law & Order, Blue Bloods, Matlock, and NCIS.
He is survived by his 3 children, Thomas, Sean, and Courtney, and his grand-daughter Madison. He’s also survived by his four siblings, Eileen, Michael, Martin, and Kevin.
Visitation will be held at Harmon funeral home at Tuesday, July 18th, and Wednesday, July 19th from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9pm. Mass will be held at blessed sacrament church at 10am on July 20th. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Seton Foundation, which is located at 315 Arlene St.
