Our condolences to Tom's family and friends. Tom was a good man and neighbor. He was friendly, kind and considerate. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. God bless Tom and may he rest peacefully.

Tom hired me for my first job out of college. I worked at High Rock Park in the Greenbelt. What great memories I have of those years. I had Tom to thank. I looked up to him as Greenbelt administrator even before he was Parks Commissioner. He loved the beauty of the Greenbelt. His heart was with the Parks! He had a great sense of humor! Miss you Tom

I joined the Parks family (and that is how we viewed it) in 1978 and really enjoyed working with Tom over the years. I loved his sense of humor and wit. He was a sensitive and caring person who has left an outstanding environmental legacy for Staten Island. My sincere condolences to his family. He is a great loss.

I worked for Tom Paulo as Chief of Parks Operations for the first four years of his seventeen years as Staten Island's Borough Parks Commissioner. I was always in awe of his educational achievements, his absolute unflappability (no problem ever fazed him), his ability to arrive at the correct decision to any issue with only the briefest consideration, and all the while being a complete gentleman. Whenever I asked Tom for advice, I was always pleased, as time passed, if I had followed his advice, and always upset with the result if I had ignored it.
I had the good fortune to have some wonderful bosses in my 33 years with Parks; Tom Paulo was right up there among the very best!
