

Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather
Vincent "Jimmy" Albunio passed away on Dec. 28, 2016, at the age of 86.
Vincent was a native Staten Islander and grew up in Tompkinsville. He graduated from Curtis High School and was enlisted with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the NYC Department of Sanitation as a foreman and was a member of the Granito-Smith American Legion Post 1296.
He is survived by his son, Vincent Albunio Jr., and his daughter, Marion DeRosa. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret, in 2007.
Vincent enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and Florida. He was an avid gardener who was very proud of his fig tree. He loved to cook for his neighbors and friends, especially zucchini pie. He was a parishioner of Assumption Church in New Brighton.
Vincent was loved by his grandchildren, who survive him: Deanna, Joseph, and Marissa DeRosa and Charlotte and Maggie Albunio. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Peter DeRosa, and his daughter-in-law, Hayley Albunio. In 2016 he became a great-grandfather with the birth of Caiden DeRosa.
Wake will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Harmon Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Assumption Church on Brighton Avenue and Webster Avenue, followed by interment at St. Peter's Cemetery.
