Vinny our last conversation on October 3rd, 2012 I didn't fully understand and now I do. I want to first say thank you for all that you have done for me and because you were never short of helping, in your own way you've allowed me the opportunity not only to say goodbye but also to be peace in handling your passing, god knows I'm not good at things of that nature. As I sit here and recall our last conversation I realize that some things were said where we felt the need to say and in our own way we said our goodbyes and from the sound of your voice as well as mine, we were pleased at the end of our conversation and for that I'm grateful that you chose me to help again. The Cardone family is profoundly saddened by Vinnie's passing, along with hundreds of Staten Island families. As president of The Snug Harbor Little League, he was our friend, our leader and an inspiration to literally thousands of Staten Island children, ball players and their siblings. Personally, he was the very first to encourage Albert to take his piano playing to the field so others could hear him, having him perform at every turn. He always described Albert as "the ONLY kid that can play The National Anthem and 3rd base in the same game". He'll always be in our hearts, especially when we hear that piano.  That encouragement and what it has led to will be with our family FOREVER.  It truly pains us to write this. Our family, like everybody else is in shock. Staten Island would be a truly different place without Vinnie Mecca. We are so sorry...

  Maria and Family, I have worked with Vinny from when he started at Castleton, always lending a helping hand, and a hello that everyone heard. My wife and myself, just as everyone who came to know him, will remember Vinny in our thoughts and hearts forever.

in my father's house, there are many mansions. i go to prepare a place for you, please know that as sure as there is agog in heaven, he has a room especially reserved for vincent mecca, he was a good man and the good he has done will long be remembered-

I had met Vinny many years ago while working at Smith Barney working on the same floor, always so friendly and talking to everyone. Seeing him at all the parades walking down Forest Ave every year with the MTA being so involved, reminded me of my dad when he was just as involved with the MTA being a bus driver.
