A member of St. Clare’s Church since 1970, he and his family were very involved in parish activities and events, especially the annual Italian festival where he assisted his father cooking Italian specialties.
Vincent graduated from Tottenville High School and entered a career in retail, which led to his true calling as an independent balloon designer and party planner affiliated with L&S Party Express in New Dorp for decades. He created arches for the New York Marathon and Gay Pride Parade and put together displays for private and public functions and celebrations at every hall, restaurant and school on Staten Island. He was well known and popular among business colleagues and customers, especially on his beloved New Dorp Lane.
Vincent’s true love and favorite hobby was cooking and baking, Italian dishes were his specialty, especially Sunday Gravy with macaroni and meatballs, chicken scaparelli, and the important holiday celebrations, such as the Feast of the Fishes with Crab Sauce and Struffoli and Zeppoles for desert on Christmas Eve, and Italian Easter Soup ‘Alla Minestra’ in the spring.
One of his nicknames was ‘Mr.Christmas’, he had an extensive collection of Santas and elaborate decorations, his favorite time of year was between Thanksgiving and Christmas, lighting up and decorating his own home and that of family members.
A Gentle Giant, he was generous, warm and giving to a fault, whether helping a stranger in a parking lot while running errands or doing a favor for a friend, always there in time of need for anyone.
He was devoted to his family and especially doted on his nieces and nephew, and loved large extended family celebrations with aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Toni Ann Morrissette, brother-in-law Joseph, his brother Michael Vollaro and sister-in-law Paulette (Micalizzi), nieces Abigail, Jordanna and Lorena and nephew Michael.
