Winston attended Sacred Heart R.C. Primary School and later the Indian Education Trust College. A devoted Catholic throughout his life, he attended Mass daily, served as an altar server in his youth, and later became a Eucharistic Minister. His faith was the cornerstone of his life. He loved his Savior deeply and held a special devotion to Saint Padre Pio, to whom he faithfully prayed.
To his friends and colleagues in Guyana, Winston was affectionately known as "BOLO." Feisty, resilient, and tough as a bulldog, he earned the nickname through his determination and spirited personality. Though strong-willed and outspoken, he possessed a kind heart and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
Winston was first married to Amanda, and together they were blessed with two sons, Jeremy and Justin. Although the marriage later ended, Winston remained a proud and loving father. As the years passed, Jeremy married Glenda, and they welcomed Noah, Winston's cherished grandson and only grandchild. Winston absolutely adored Noah. Whether enjoying a visit together or simply hearing his grandson's voice on the phone, Noah brought him immeasurable joy and pride.
For the last eight wonderful years, Winston shared his life with his beloved wife, Desiree Drepaul. Through this marriage, he gained the daughter he had always wanted, Tisha Mootoo, and a granddaughter, Jade-Lei Armogan, who lovingly called him "Uncle Daddy." Winston embraced them wholeheartedly and became a devoted father and grandfather figure, showering them with love, guidance, and affection.
He began his professional career with the Ministry of Works and Hydraulics as a Clerk and later advanced to the Transportation and Harbours Department, where he served as a Supervisor. After immigrating to the United States, Winston made his home in Staten Island, New York. He initially worked at ShopRite and Staples before beginning what would become a long and successful career with Lowe's Home Improvement on Forest Avenue in Staten Island. He joined Lowe's in September 2003, and remained a dedicated employee until his passing.
Winston took great pride in his work in the Appliance Department. Throughout the years, he embraced countless changes and challenges while remaining committed to both his colleagues and customers. Known for his soft-spoken manner, warm smile, and willingness to help others, he earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike. He frequently shared stories about his famous nephew, DJ Spinking, often laughing when people doubted the family connection.
Winston was always eager to mentor colleagues, share his knowledge, and lend a helping hand whenever needed.
His dedication and talent earned him numerous recognitions as Top Salesman of the Year at both the store and regional levels. He proudly displayed photographs of these accomplishments and enjoyed sharing them with family and friends. One of his proudest achievements came when Lowe's sponsored him to complete specialized appliance mechanics training. Although he initially worried he was "too old to go back to school," Winston successfully completed the program and graduated with distinction. When the coursework became challenging, he could always count on the support of family members, especially Emmanuel Bandoo and his sister Jean, who helped him navigate both the technical lessons and computer-based assignments.
Winston had a generous spirit and a heart that preferred giving rather than receiving. Outside of work, he thoroughly enjoyed Amazon Prime shopping, often waiting excitedly for the next delivery to arrive. He also treasured his trips home to Guyana, especially when they involved watching his beloved Guyana Amazon Warriors cricket team compete. Like many true cricket fans, he even had his own nicknames for some of the players—a uniquely Guyanese tradition that always brought a smile to his face.
Winston leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Desiree; his sons, Jeremy and Justin; his grandson, Noah; his daughter, Tisha; his granddaughter, Jade-Lei; his sisters, Agnes Mitchell and Jean Ramson; his brothers, Tony, John, Carlton, and Joseph; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
As the baby brother of the family, Winston held a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. His sudden passing leaves a tremendous void, not only among his family and friends but also within his cherished Lowe's family.
