

Mrs. Martin was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She was raised on a farm and married a farmer and was hardworking. She worked many years as a clerk at McClellan’s Five and Dime and also worked with the J.P. Stephens Company, where she was a seamstress and yarn maker and later worked as a caregiver. Mrs. Martin was an avid fisherman and taught each of her children and grandchildren to fish. She loved the Lord and thanked Him every day. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Audrey Leona Bonnette Rogers; her husband, Paul B. Martin, Sr.; sister, Ernestine DeChristafaro and her brother, Edward Rogers.
She is survived by sons, Paul B. Martin, Jr. (Nona Jane) and Charlie Tommy Martin (Roberta), daughters, Wanda Faye Martin Gwinette and Elizabeth Ann Herring (Harold), all of Statesboro; 9 grandchildren, Daphne Cowart, Brooklet; Lisa Conner (Daniel), Winter Haven, FL; Angela Moon (Justin); Whitney Sconyers; Christie Sconyers; Paul B. Martin, III (Chrystal); Jane M. Adams (Casey) all of Statesboro; Chrystal Martin, Mount Vernon and Tony Murray (Amy), Sylvania; 14 Great Grandchildren; Special Friends, BJ Scott and Dianne Melancon, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday, January 31 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 31 in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with the Reverend Stephanie Smith officiating. Burial will be in New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.
